20/21 Learning Dialogue Series
Thanks to all of you who attended yesterday's 20/21 Learning Dialogue on Creativity. These are unique opportunities for us to engage with a diverse group of AISC community members and I encourage you to mark your calendar now for our next dialogue on December 3rd. I am sharing with you a short video we watched during the Learning Dialogue by Steven Johnson, "Where Good Ideas Come From". In this video, Johnson argues that, "the primary engine of innovation and creativity is connectivity". To that end, I would like to invite you to tune into this month's NESA Twitter Chat!

Upcoming Professional Learning
Opportunity
If you’re interested in learning more about how to target instruction to learners at a variety of language proficiencies, here’s a professional learning opportunity that you may want to consider.
International Schools Services (ISS) is proud to offer a new three course training program, focused on developing administrators’ and all teachers’ mindsets and capacities to respond to the growing number of English language learners in international schools. The program is designed and led by program co-creator and global EAL expert (and AISC friend and consultant) Dr. Gini Rojas. Read more about Dr. Rojas here.

MINI-NESA
Dear Staff,
Our school is strongly committed to furthering the professional learning of each staff member here at AISC. Be it conferences, online coursework, professional book clubs, or onsite training, we have many opportunities to learn and grow as educational specialists. One such opportunity is Mini-NESA, a round of professional learning offerings led by your AISC colleagues. While NESA professional learning conferences and training institutes take place during the year and all across the region, Mini-NESA allows our own in-house talent to shine and share with others their wide range of expertise.
Mini-NESA holds two purposes:
1) To engage the full faculty in a dynamic professional learning and development experience, using our teachers’ expertise to take the lead and share in professional learning2) To identify presentations that we would like to send as a school to the NESA Spring Educators Conference in Bangkok this spring.
This year’s Mini-NESA will take place on Wednesday, December 3rd as part of the early release schedule. This year, NESA is looking for teacher presentations on the following topics:
- Standards-based learning (assessment; instruction)
- Reading/Writing workshop models
- Instructional Coaching
- Next Generation Science Standards (transition; implementation)
- Innovation/Enhancing learning (technology-infused instruction; personal learning networks; learning designs)
- Inclusive Schools (differentiation; EAL; personalized learning)
Furthermore, NESA will select workshops for the Spring Educators Conference using the following criteria:
- Relate to a NESA ongoing initiative
- Reflect research-based best practice
- Focus on student-learning
- Support practical application and transfer
To sign up to offer a Mini-NESA workshop, please visit the link below.
Please note the deadline to submit a proposal is Tuesday, November 3rd.
Presenting is a wonderful way to give back to our profession. There are so many wonderful things going on here at AISC and our staff is extremely talented. This is a great way to share what you are doing with our peers and colleagues across the region, so I encourage you to apply. For more information on the NESA organization, please visit: www.nesacenter.org
Please view Mini-NESA 2015 Frequently Asked Questions (see attached) for presentation guidelines and other important information. If you have any questions, please feel free to stop by my office (ground floor of the ES/MS CIC) or send me an email. I am happy to help you in any way.
Thank you,
Jet :) (Mini-NESA Coordinator)
