“Do not be dismayed by the brokenness of the world. All things break. And all things can be mended. Not with time, as they say, but with intention. So go. Love intentionally, extravagantly, unconditionally. The broken world waits in darkness for the light that is you.” L. R. Knost

SEVAI Updates by Balajee Ginjapalle, AISC Service Learning Coordinator
#servicelearningstartshere
AISC Grade 2 students kicked off their service learning project this week. The students visited Seva Samajam community school and interacted with their elementary kids. During their first visit, they made friends with Seva Samajam kids, learned about each other, drew portraits, and played games together. There will be more joint learning and interactions in the coming months where Seva Samajam kids will visit AISC and vice versa.
Upcoming
The Middle School students and teachers continue the Blue Cross project this Saturday December 9. They will wash, clean, feed nutrition supplements to puppies and kittens and help them get used to human contact.
AISC Math Matters club at the High School is organizing the annual Peepul Conference for students from the Hope Foundation School on Saturday December 9. Hope Foundation School is a community school in Kannagi Nagar off OMR, located in one of the largest resettlement colonies in Asia. Math Matters is a student run club that strives to make math fun and interesting for students from this school through a six week program. The Peepul Conference is another initiative by AISC students to help kids from local schools. Here are a few words about the conference from the students -
"Peepul Conference is an initiative taken by the long running student led club called MathMatters at AISC. The Peepul tree is the tree under which Buddha attained his wisdom, similarly this conference wishes to expand knowledge and plant values. The conferences seeks to bring students from higher grades (8-12) in local schools and expose them to ideas and teaching that are essential to their daily life. By connecting passionate, expert speakers with students who are enthusiastic to learn, we strive towards making a positive impact on those in our local community. We not only introduce students with topics that are essential in life but also create friendship as we bring students from two different schools. This year we have speakers discussing gender roles in the Indian Society, craft skills, and leadership. The event will take place on December 9 from 11:30AM to 5:30PM in the AISC campus. "
