All,
With India Month started, I am reminded what a dynamic and exciting place we are fortunate enough to live, work, and learn!

Mini-NESA Is Coming!
If you did not see Jet's email last week, it is below:
Our school is strongly committed to furthering the professional learning of each staff member here at AISC. Be it conferences, online coursework, professional book clubs, or onsite training, we have many opportunities to learn and grow as educational specialists. One such opportunity is Mini-NESA, a round of professional learning offerings led by your AISC colleagues. While NESA professional learning conferences and training institutes take place during the year and all across the region, Mini-NESA allows our own in-house talent to shine and share with others their wide range of expertise.
Last week I participated in the chat on a great book recommended to me, The Speed of Trust by Stephen Covey.

As stated previously, October 19 will be dedicated curricular work time to allow teams and academic departments meet the scope and sequence requests by December 7 (formerly was Nov. 23). Team Leaders and Heads of Department will be meet with their groups individually and sharing the individual agendas base on the objectives they would like to meet. Joelle, Alan, Keryn, and I will be away at NESA, but the Associate Principals and coaches will be available during the after-school time to support various groups.
From the conversations I have been having with faculty, I thought I offer a resources if you need some curriculum extension. Atlas has an entire section of reference material. Here is the link and a screen shot below for information on: glossaries of educational terms, elements of essential questions, curriculum maps, and understanding teaching strategies. Perhaps this will be helpful to you.

Mini-NESA Is Coming!

Mini-NESA holds two purposes:
1) To engage the full faculty in a dynamic professional learning and development experience, using our teachers’ expertise to take the lead and share in professional learning.2) To identify presentations that we would like to send as a school to the NESA Spring Educators Conference in Bangkok this spring.
This year’s Mini-NESA will take place on the afternoon of Wednesday, November 23rd. This year, NESA is looking for teacher presentations on the following topics:
- Standards-based learning (e.g., assessment; instruction)
- Reading/writing workshop models
- Coaching (e.g., instructional; hard conversations)
- Next Generation Science Standards (e.g. transition; implementation)
- Innovation/enhancing learning (e.g., technology-infused instruction; personal learning networks; learning designs)
- Inclusive schools (e.g., differentiation; EAL; personalized learning)
Furthermore, NESA will select workshops for the Spring Educators Conference using the following criteria:
- Relate to a NESA ongoing initiative
- Reflect research-based best practice
- Focus on student-learning
- Support practical application and transfer
To sign up to offer a Mini-NESA workshop, please visit the link below.
Please note the deadline to submit a proposal is Wednesday, November 2nd.
Presenting is a wonderful way to give back to our profession. There are so many wonderful things going on here at AISC and our staff is extremely talented. This is a great way to share what you are doing with our peers and colleagues across the region, so I encourage you to apply. For more information on the NESA organization, please visit: www.nesacenter.org
Please view Mini-NESA 2016 Frequently Asked Questions (see attached) for presentation guidelines and other important information. I have also attached a scoring guide so you can see how presentations are scored for the selection process.
If you have any questions, please feel free to stop by my office (ground floor of the ES/MS CIC) or send me an email.
Thank you,
Jet (Mini-NESA Coordinator)
