“Self-control is a strength. Calmness is mastery. You have to get to a point where your mood doesn’t shift based on the insignificant actions of someone else. Don’t allow others to control the direction of your life. Don’t allow your emotions to overpower your intelligence.” Morgan Freeman

Date Change
I wanted to make you aware of a calendar shift. February 6 will now be Strand Time and February 20 will be Vertical Team time. Both days are Early Release Days. It is an equal switch of days. The genesis of the change was to accommodate Strand Leader absences to attend a necessary Child Protection Training on February 20. The change is accurately reflected in the MASTER Wednesday calendar LINK HERE.

GOA: Flex Courses for You or Your Class? (FREE)
Hello AISC Faculty,
Global Online Academy (GOA) recently announced their 3 flex courses for Spring 2019!
· Voice & Vision: A Flex Course Film Festival
· True or False?: Navigating the News in 2019
· Changing the Course of Climate Change
Below is a GOA Flex Course factsheet for your reference. See link below for dates.
What is it?
2-3 week programs designed for teachers, grades 7-12, to integrate into your existing curricula. It can also be taken as stand alone classes by teachers and students.
Why take it?
It's a great opportunity to join a global conversation on relevant real-world topics. Furthermore, it can help you bring in resources to create a sense of urgency on current topics to fuel classroom discussions.
How does it work?
Teachers are welcome to choose the online courses and content within classes as you see fit. Jason, Associate Director of Academics at GOA, mentioned "teachers often cherry pick the resources that are most relevant to their courses for discussions in class".
Here's the link for additional information. Please feel free to reach out to me for additional information or with questions.
All the best,
Soyeon

EAL Shout-out!
After several weeks of collaboration and dedication, the Co-teaching for Language Development graphic is complete! Thank you all so much for your efforts in making this happen. In working with the TALL, the Coaching Collaborative, a teacher focus group, and the whole school, I think we have created a product we can be proud of.
As a reminder, the 7 Norms of Collaboration should be referenced while working through the collaborative teaching cycle. A simplified version of the 7 Norms will be on the back of this graphic.
Moving forward, we are creating a document that looks at the finer details of the collaborative teaching cycle. Look for more information after the first of the year!
For now, this document will be print and distribute to all co-teachers. If you are not a co-teacher and want a copy, please let me know. The more we all get on the same page about co-teaching, the better!
Happy Friday!
Peace-
Sarah
