Wednesday Wellness Early Release, October 23, 2019

The October 23 Early Release Professional Learning Day will focus on Faculty Wellness. The on-campus, wellness engagements will be led by AISC teachers to promote wellbeing at work. As a strategic pathway in our Futures Plan, student wellbeing is and will continue to be a vital initiative over the next several years at AISC. One of the ways student wellbeing becomes embedded in our community of learners is by following teachers learning, living, and teaching wellbeing.  Our faculty-led Wellness Committee supports the school in modeling and promoting wellness. Among other organizing Wednesday Wellness Early Release days, the Wellness Committee organizes a Wellness Academy led by interested faculty members and plans wellness events during the school year.  Thank you in advance to Priya V. for serving as our Wellness Coordinator while Keeley is on maternity leave. Thank you also to all the Wellness Wednesday leaders.

EAL Shout-out!
It’s Friday!

Yesterday, I had my first of 3 EAL coffees with AISC parents. At this coffee, we talked about our ELL population, uncovered some current research on L1, and unpacked the AISC Language Philosophy. Twenty-five people attended. Each section was represented. Here are the slides. The inclusion activity was a “stop & jot” with these questions:

What do you know about the English as an Additional Language (EAL) program at AISC?

What would you like to know about the English as an Additional Language (EAL) program at AISC?

As you know, I like to practice transparency. Here’s what they said. For the most part, I think parents get the gist of what we do. I will be using the “What I’d like to know…” dot points to focus the next coffees. If there’s anything you’d like to add to this list, let me know! I’m happy to do so.

The next EAL Coffee is Thursday, 5 December @ 8:45-9:45 a.m. We will be having a deep dive into the EAL program. Feel free to attend, if you have the time.

Peace-
Sarah
