“Emotions you seem to detect in others actually come in part from what’s
inside your head. Your brain basically makes predictions...guesses. You have the capacity to construct
experiences differently” TEDTalk presenter and creator of Be A Better Ally Podcast,

Wellbeing Steering Committee
Update
During the week of November 18th, 2019 MUN Impact students have
organized a week of awareness and activities around the topic of Wellbeing. Be
sure to stop by the courtyard on Monday morning as they kick things off!
And as we continue to think about how wellbeing becomes/is becoming an
embedded concept in our community, it’s interesting to take a look at the data
collected from our own students (grades 4-12) on measures of wellbeing. Take a
look at our Wellbeing Profiler website (password:
wellbeing2019) to see the results and read on for more information on how and
why this survey was conducted.
In November 2018 students from grades 4 to 12 were invited to complete
an anonymous wellbeing survey using the Wellbeing Profiler, which was
developed by the University of Melbourne.
Why did we give this survey?
- To broaden the understanding of
wellbeing
- To measure positive indicators of wellbeing
and areas for growth that correlate with our AISC Wellbeing Framework
- To understand how the wellbeing of students in
our school compares with that of a normative group sample
- To get a baseline measurement of student
wellbeing before introducing the Wellbeing Framework to the AISC community
The data of 225 students across those
grades is displayed on our Wellbeing Profiler website. The survey
measured both positive indicators and risk factors. These have been mapped to
the 4 domains of the AISC Wellbeing
framework: Positive Relationships, Self-Awareness, Healthy
Habits and Self-Management.
Take a look at the Wellbeing Profiler website to see a
summary of the data, including our top 5 positive indicators and bottom 5 risk
factors. You can also check out the tabs that present the data by
section.
We would love to hear any thoughts
that come up for you as you look at the data! Feel free to chat with or send an
email to anyone on the Wellbeing Steering Committee (Nigel, Jen, Ryan F, Jack,
Priya V., Walter, Jen G., Dan, and Andrew H.) with any comments, questions or
wonderings.
Future Pathways Update from
Sherriden Masters
Here is the link to
all of the faculty feedback submitted to the Mentimeter platform during the
Faculty Futures Summit.
The answers were related to the six
futures pathways of the ten in the Futures Plan, and were
broadly in response to the question "How might you imagine this pathway will
look in 3 years" It is an opportunity to look into the exciting
space described in our futures plan, and areas where it may grow in the future.
Thank you all for your contributions to thinking and new ideas at AISC.
EAL Shout-out!
At the start of the year, many of you
created working agreements with a colleague. Every now and then, you may want
to dust off the working agreement you created in August and see if it is still
valid. To help with this process, you may want to share your answers to the
following questions:
- How are we meeting our personal expectations for this partnership?
- How does this relationship meet the needs of our students?
- What have we learned about each other’s area of expertise?
- What might we do differently to bring our individual expertise to the classroom?
- Have we stuck to our key ground rules surrounding collaborative planning, instructing, assessing, and reflecting?
- What do we continually need to be successful?
- How are we navigating conflict? Has this been successful?
I hope these questions might help you
continue to move forward in your productive working agreements. If I can help
in any way, please let me know. I am more than happy to find the time to sit
down with anyone.
Peace-
Sarah
