Failure is instructive. The person who really thinks learns quite as much from his failures as from his successes. ― John Dewey
Mindfulness at AISC
Many thanks to Shez and Ula for their inspiring presentation at this week's All Faculty Meet. As mentioned, this new website has a deluge of resources to help the AISC Community practice mindfulness, independently or with colleagues. In addition, there's that amazing professional learning opportunity... More on that below.
Continuity of Instruction
As we are all watching Coronavirus, John Mikton has consolidated some resources, tips, guides and apps for educators having to move to an online classroom: Online resources for Schools moving to delivering online classes. Thank you, Sherriden for this wonderful resource!
EAL Shout-out!
Many of us have started writing mid-semester comments for our students and parents. I've been asked by a few people, "What can we say about academic language development?" So, I created a list of possible comments to teachers to consider when commenting on a student's language development. I can see these comments could be used for ELLs and non-ELLs alike. For some, you may just want to cut-and-paste these comments into your progress reports. For others, these comments may be used as inspiration for writing your own. After all, you know your students better than anyone.
Cheers-
