The capacity to learn is a gift; the ability to learn is a skill; the willingness to learn is a choice.  --Brian Herbert

PD Request UPDATE

Given the shifting health landscape and the fluid air travel situation, if you plan to request to attend a professional development opportunity in February or March in any country with a documented coronavirus case, please have a conversation with your supervisor regarding the necessity of your travel plans.  Thank you in advance for your understanding.

Coaching Collaborative:  Coaching Survey

The Coaching Collaborative is working to improve the Coaching Program at AISC.

This survey is about voluntary/elective coaching conversations and coaching cycles.  This survey is not about regularly scheduled curricular meetings (i.e. ES literacy or math meetings) or coach-facilitated meetings (i.e. MS STEAM meetings or Environmental Responsibility meetings).

This survey is anonymous and will be open from Friday, January 31 until Wednesday, February 12, 2020.

A summary of the results will be shared on the Raptor Way Blog and inform what you may see coaches doing in the future.

EAL Shout-out!

Fun facts about language learning (Thanks, WIDA!):
  • Multilingual learners use and develop language through activities which intentionally integrate multiple modalities, including oral, written, visual, and kinesthetic modes of communication.
  • Multilingual learners' language, social-emotional, and cognitive development are interrelated processes that contribute to their success in school and beyond.
  • Multilingual learners use their full linguistic repertoire, including translanguaging practices, to enrich their language development and learning.
  • Multilingual learners use and develop language to interpret and present different perspectives, build awareness of relationships, and affirm their identities.
Interested in unpacking any of these dot points? If so, I'm just an email (or door knock) away!

Cheers-
